The first-ever Bay Trail Fun Run was held on June 1, 2013 with warm and generally sunny weather and a surpassingly successful turnout of more than 300 runners and walkers – who collectively raised a net $12,000 for the fund to acquire the trail.
Community participation, from runners and walkers to sponsors and donors, was terrific and the trail garnered rave reviews from those who were seeing it for the first time.
In the results, Sam Mills clocked a 40:16 to win the overall 10K portion of the race, while Al Mayer took first in the 5k at 21:51. Below are results for those who won or placed in their age division, plus results for all who ran or walked both distances:

Due to technical and human errors on this first-time event, we know some of the times may be off. Please forgive us for any discrepancies, and we apologize for the inconvenience. The good news is, that the success of this first run ensures that we’ll be staging it again next June – and next year we’ll be using a more sophisticated, chip timing system. We hope you will return to run in the more improved, 2nd Annual Bay Trail Fun Run in 2014 – and bring a friend, or a few, as we continue the fundraising that will help us permanently protect this wonderful waterfront treasure.
More than 70 volunteers helped stage the race, and more than 30 businesses and individuals put up donations to underwrite the expenses. Please check out our sponsors and volunteers!
Finally, if you’re a Facebook user, check out these couple of photo albums of the run – just some proof that it certainly lived up to the “Fun” billing!
